Who Are We?

The Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust is a registered charity which is dedicated to the preservation of the Dartmoor Pony breed. We are based on Dartmoor, Devon in the UK.

The Rare Breeds Survival Trust has recognised the huge decline in pony numbers on Dartmoor. Numbers of the 'vulnerable' native pony are now at a critical level.

Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust Annual Sale on Saturday 19th July. A selection of quality moor bred ponies; riding, conservation grazing and young stock, all handled and passported. Please contact Dru Butterfield for a sales list on dru@dpht.co.uk

Visiting Times - The centre will be manned on Sunday afternoons from the begining of April between 2.00pm - 16.30pm.

The Wag From Widecombe becomes new DPHT Patron -You can imagine how delighted we were when Tony Beard, otherwise known as the Wag From Widecombe, agreed to be a Patron. Tony is a keen preserver of Devon life and culture. Tony has spent many happy years as a farmer. He talks of his love of the moors, countryside traditions and the characters who live and work on the moor in his Radio Devon 'Dartmoor Diary'. The Dartmoor Pony is the emblem of Dartmoor, but then some would say Tony is!
